Name of Project: Emotions Experienced in Response to Immoral Acts

 

Who is conducting the research?

The study is being conducted by Ebony Young (School of Applied Psychology, Griffith University; email ebony.young2@griffithuni.edu.au) under the supervision of Jared Walters email: jared.walters@griffith.edu.au

 

Why is the research being conducted?

Participants are invited to complete an online survey examining how emotion is related to immoral acts. The purpose of this study is to examine what emotions are experienced by people in response to immoral acts.

 

What you will be asked to do

If you decide to participate, you will complete an online survey consisting of scenarios providing a description of someone performing a behaviour that may cause you to feel a variety of emotions in response. You will then answer questions about how strongly you are feeling these emotions. After this, you will complete questions on your emotions in response to other people as well as questions on emotions you feel in response to different example events. Demographic questions asking your age, gender and nationality will be asked at the end. The survey will take no longer than 30 minutes.

Risks to you

The risks involved in participating in this research are no greater than that arising from daily living.

 

Your confidentiality

Any information or personal details gathered in the course of the study are confidential. No individual will (or could) be identified in any publication of the results. De-identified anonymous datasets will be made available to researchers . All research data will be retained in a password protected electronic file at Griffith University for a period of five years before being destroyed.

 

Your participation is voluntary

Participation in this research is entirely voluntary. You are under no obligation to take part and if you decide to participate you are free to withdraw from the study at any time without having to give a reason and without consequence.

The ethical aspects of this study have been approved by the Griffith University Ethics Review Committee (Human Research) (GU ref no:).
