This research project explores the factors associated with cultural intelligence in Financial Advisers. We will be asking you a number of survey questions to establish which demographic factors correlate with high levels of cultural intelligence. The researcher will be asking you to respond to the survey questions with your own opinion. The purpose of the survey is to enable the researchers to gain a deeper understanding of the factors that are associated with higher levels of cultural intelligence in Financial Advisers. This will inform education and professional practice of financial advice in Australia, potentially improving outcomes for clients and wider society by being able to develop programs to increase the cultural intelligence of financial advice providers.
The survey will be conducted electronically and on paper, and will take no more than 5-7 minutes to complete. Participation in this research is voluntary.
Your participation in the research will involve answering survey questions relating to your experiences with regards to culture in both personal and professional contexts. Demographic data collected is required because this is useful for analytical purposes, and you will not be able to be identified from this data as the survey is anonymous. The surveys will be recorded in an electronic database for the purpose of collecting and analysing responses. All paper copies will be destroyed after the data has been entered into the electronic database.
Your responses to the survey questions will be confidential, and in no way will you be able to be identified through them. Your privacy will be protected throughout the study. The digital copy of the survey responses will be stored on a password protected file server which can only be accessed by the researchers. Copies of the survey will be stored for a period of five years after which they will be discarded. The researchers are the only people who will have access to password for the surveys. At the completion of the project, you may request access to the research findings. Research results will be reported in an academic thesis, and may also be disseminated via journal articles and / or conference presentations. This research forms a component of the student's academic program. Please don’t hesitate to contact the researcher or their supervisors if you have any questions.
The researchers will be running free 1 hour CPD sessions on cultural intelligence to financial advisers. Participants in these sessions will be invited to complete the survey before the commencement of the session. Participation in the survey will be entirely voluntary and anonymous, and not affect participation in the session. Participants can withdraw from the study before submitting the survey. Once the survey has been submitted participants are unable to withdraw as the research team will not be able to identify individual responses.
